Structural analysis of overhead systems
SPIDAcalc makes it straightforward to collect, model, and optimize overhead T&D assets, giving organizations transparency, control, and flexibility over collection, material specification, and analysis methods.
Using SPIDAcalc increases system integrity, ensures reliable service, reduces safety concerns, and optimizes overhead financial investments.
Enjoy an attractive, modern interface that empowers new users to dive into the program with minimal training.
Backed by a powerful finite element analysis engine, SPIDAcalc offers both traditional linear analysis and advanced geometric nonlinear analysis methods.
Real time evaluation of at-pole, to ground, and wire-to-wire clearances.
Cloud-based analysis provides scalable horsepower to handle the analysis of one pole or 100,000 poles in a matter of minutes. Features of online analysis include:
Within “Map View”, you can build a connected system of poles simultaneously, greatly reducing the time required for line design.
Leverage a new project wide terrain model to complement automated clearance evaluations
Need some advice? The Advisor feature can help you troubleshoot a failing pole component by iterating through variations of a component to identify a replacement that would pass an analysis.
Updates and new releases of SPIDAcalc are delivered on a consistent schedule to meet evolving industry needs and challenges.
SPIDAcalc is easily adaptable to each utility’s individual needs, and the team at SPIDAcalc are very approachable, ready to implement ideas and suggestions as needs arise.
We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the capability of SPIDAcalc in the distribution design arena. Its flexibility allows the engineer to quickly design a pole line and review both loading and NESC clearances on utility infrastructure.
We knew the regulatory requirement for non-linear analysis was coming, and our two-dimensional spreadsheet tool was not going to cut it. We tried another well-known pole analysis software tool but quickly discovered it was not user-friendly. SPIDAcalc made it very easy to enter the data, and with the 2D and 3D views, we can see with a glance that it’s entered correctly.
"With the inception of the 2015 edition of CSA 22.3 that mandated a geometric nonlinear analysis method, our large-scale local distribution company was looking to replace its disparate spreadsheet analysis methods and was searching for a scalable code compliant solution that would strike the delicate balance between enhanced functionality and user friendly operability. After a comprehensive review of available software in the market, it became apparent that SPIDAcalc software would meet our needs. Since this time the team at SPIDA has always been very supportive to our end users, and responsive to any concerns raised by the company. The SPIDAcalc software has been updated several times since to address changes in the code, and requests for new and enhanced functionality have been responded to in a timely manner. In recent years our LDC has grown considerably with over 120 users, and SPIDAcalc remains a low effort activity to maintain and administer. Thank you SPIDA team for five great years, looking forward to the next five!"
"We have been using SPIDAcalc for several years now with much success. It has streamlined our pole analysis and allowed designs that may fall out of normal specifications to be approved or modified, based on the results. SPIDA is continuing to update and add additional features to their software that brings benefit to many users. We are upgrading our account with additional SPIDA tools to enhance and improve our workflow for internal users and contractors. The support team is always very quick and helpful with any topic or issue that may arise. We look forward to continuing to work with SPIDA and the wonderful team they have."
"SPIDAcalc has given REMC more confidence in our pole designs. The user interface is top-notch, easy to use and it saves our stakers time and effort when evaluating the designs. SPIDA has allowed us to “right-size” the equipment we design for our poles, which in turn saves the co-op money."
